Feathers fly as we open La boheme

Last week was a big one for Opera Australia – opening the 2011 Melbourne season with our brand new La bohème.  And what a night it was!
After all the hard work, Gale Edwards’ cabaret-inspired production received great reviews in The Australian, the Herald Sun and The Age.
And how better to celebrate than with a party? Champagne, feathers, and a performance by the gold-spangled diva herself!

We are including photos for those who missed it, and you can catch Takesha's performance (filmed on a mobile phone) on her website: www.takeshameshekizart.com.

  1. Complaint to stage management:
With both Boheme and last night, Macbeth, the curtain dropped much too soon. The audience wanted to clap much longer and harder for two superb productions - but were abruptly cut off after a couple of nods!
I'm sure the artists can't be happy about this either.
What OA needs is a claque, and the curtain time to exercise it, "come all'opera Italiana"!

  2. Wouldn't "claqueur" be one of the world's great jobs? I'm sure we'd have plenty of takers!

In the meantime, thanks for the feedback. We will pass it on.
